I received a B.A. from Whittier College, double majoring in Religious Studies and Comparative Cultures (Cultural Anthropology). I am primarily interested in studying contemporary 'living' religions, particularly in the American context, utilizing ethnographic and other anthropological methods. My interests in diaspora and immigrant religious communities in North America, performance theory, and 'Sacred sound' and religious musics have intersected within my recent research on Sikh Gurbani kirtan (oral/musical recitation of the Sikh Scriptures). I am also currently doing research on Christian Hardcore/Punk and Metal music.
